Meet the leadership team at Coastal Carolina Research Center. CCRC provides clinical research for the pharmaceutical and medical fields conducting clinical trials, medical research, and drug studies for a variety of diseases and conditions.

Cynthia B. Strout, MD, President and Medical Director

Cynthia Strout started working with CCRC in clinical research in 1997. She became the Medical Director at CCRC in 2002 and is currently a full-time research investigator.

Dr. Strout earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan in Chemical Engineering. After working for several years with a global pharmaceutical company, she realized she had a love for medicine. When she finished medical school along with her family practice residency program, Dr. Strout’s “2nd career” began as a staff physician for a Family Practice/Urgent care center in Maine.

She moved to South Carolina and worked in a private Family Practice in the Charleston area for five years. Dr. Strout participated as an investigator in her first clinical trial in 1998.

She has worked as principal investigator and conducted multiple studies including:  7 Phase I studies, 135 Phase II studies, 269 Phase III studies and 26 Phase IV studies.

She has also worked as a sub-investigator on 27 Phase II studies, 111 Phase III studies and 13 Phase IV studies. See a full list of studies here.

 


Nathan Morton, CCRC Director and Co-Owner

 

Nathan Morton has been with CCRC since November 2004.  He feels CCRC’s work brings an intrinsic value to the Lowcountry community. “I have a great deal of respect for folks who volunteer to be a part of clinical trials.”

Nathan is a University of Tennessee graduate (Go Vols!) and a United States Navy Veteran. He is a husband and father of two daughters.
